Project Lifesaver is currently the primary program offered through Ohio County Safety Lifeline.
Project Lifesaver is a rapid response safety program designed to assist individuals who are at risk of wandering due to cognitive conditions such as autism, Alzheimer’s/dementia, and other neurological diagnoses.
Participants wear a small, personalized transmitter that allows trained local emergency personnel to respond quickly and effectively if a wandering incident occurs. The program emphasizes prevention, rapid response, and peace of mind for families.
The individual is enrolled through an intake process.
A personalized transmitter with an individualized radio frequency number is assigned.
Families receive safety guidance and instructions.
In the event of wandering, trained responders use tracking equipment to locate the individual quickly.
Individuals that reside in Ohio County who are at an increased risk of wandering or elopement due to cognitive, neurological, or age-related conditions may qualify for participation. Final eligibility is determined through the intake process.
